Solution

Given: `log_(sqrt(2)) x = 4`

Step-wise calculation: 

Using the definition logb(x) = y ⇔ x = by, we get 

`x = (sqrt(2))^4 xx (sqrt(2) = 2^(1/2))`

So `x = (2^(1/2))^4`

`x = 2^((1/2) xx 4)`

x = 22

x = 4
