Question
Solve the following quadratic equation using formula method only
4x2 + 12x + 9 = 0
Advertisements
Solution
4x2 + 12x + 9 = 0
a = 4 ; b = 12 ; c = 9
D = b2 - 4ac
= (12)2 - 4(4)(9)
= 144 - 144
= 0
x = `(- "b" ± sqrt ("b"^2 - 4 "ac"))/(2a)`
x = `(- 12 +- 0)/8`
x = `-3/2`
