- Mewar Rajputs refused to submit. After losing Chittor, their capital, they supported Rana Pratap, Udai Singh's brave son. After returning to the highlands, Udai Singh created Udaipur, his capital.
- Rana Pratap continued fighting the Mughals after Udai Singh died. After much struggle, Rana Pratap gathered an army and fought the Mughals at Haldighati in 1576 ce.
- Rajput chief Raja Man Singh of Amber led the Mughals.
