Tigress Avni Shot Dead, Many Unanswered Questions
Reported by: Staff Correspondent
Nagpur, 3 November 2023:
Tigress Avni, also known as T1, was shot dead in the Yavatmal forest on Friday night. She was suspected of killing several people in the area, and the forest department had been trying to catch her for many months. After her death, many people started asking questions about how and why the operation was carried out.
According to officials, Avni was first tried to be captured alive by using a tranquilizer, but the attempt failed. Later, she was shot by the authorized hunter. This incident has created anger among wildlife lovers and environmental groups. They believe that proper rules were not followed, and that the tigress could have been caught safely without killing her. Many people are demanding an inquiry into the whole matter.
Villagers in the area feel safer now, but animal activists say that Avni’s killing shows poor planning and weak wildlife management.
A well-known environmentalist said, “The death of Avni is sad and unnecessary. The truth must be found through a fair investigation.”
