a) Yes, the life expectancy in India has increased over time. This is mainly due to improvements in healthcare and medical facilities, better sanitation and hygiene, improved nutrition, vaccination, better living conditions, and a decline in infant and maternal mortality. Greater awareness about health and increased access to healthcare have also helped people live longer.

b) According to the graph, in 2010:

• Males: approximately 64 years
• Females: approximately 68  years

Thus, in 2010, females had a higher life expectancy than males.
