1. Uneven distribution of raw materials and resources: Many large industries (e.g., iron & steel) need heavy, bulky raw materials (coal, iron ore) or abundant power/water; such resources are not available everywhere, so industries locate near the sources.
2. Poor infrastructure and market/labour access: areas lacking good transport, ports, reliable power, water, markets and skilled labour are unsuitable for large‑scale industry.
