• The Mayor is the ceremonial and functional head of a Municipal Corporation. Municipal Corporation has one Chairman and one Deputy Chairman who are called Mayor and Deputy Mayor respectively.
• In their first meeting, the members of the Municipal Corporation elect the Mayor and Deputy Mayor from amongst the elected Councillors.
• Each has a tenure of five years, which is equal to the tenure of the Municipal Corporation. Members of the Municipal Corporation can remove the Mayor and Deputy Mayor from office by passing a resolution to that effect by a two-thirds majority.
