Solution

We can classify the adults who work for a livelihood on the following basis:

  1. Classification on the basis of the nature of work:
    1. Primary Sector: The primary sector includes all economic activities that involve the exploitation of natural resources. They are kept in the primary sector, which includes agriculture, mining, and fishing.
    2. Secondary Sector: In the secondary sector, numerous valuable commodities are created using products gained from the primary sector, such as cotton cloth and sugarcane.
    3. Tertiary Sector: The tertiary sector does not create things, but it does supply services. These services contribute significantly to the growth of the primary and secondary sectors. Banking, insurance, railway communication, and transportation are all included.
  2. Classification on the basis of conditions of employment: On the basis of the conditions of employment, we can divide it into two parts, i.e., the Organised Sector and the Unorganised Sector.
    1. Organised Sector: These activities are part of the organised sector, which requires regular employment and adherence to government rules.
    2. Unorganised Sector: The unorganised sector is beyond the government’s jurisdiction. The employment period, as well as rules, bylaws, and such, are not fixed.
  3. Classification on the basis of ownership of industries: Industries can be classified as public or private depending on who owns them.

On the basis of the above, we can list the people around us in this way:

Profession Nature of Work
(Sector)
Conditions of Employment Ownership of Industry
Farmers Primary Unorganised Private
Government school teachers Tertiary Organised Public
Lawyers Tertiary Organised (usually) Private (Self-employed/Private firms)
Tailors Secondary Unorganised Private
Washermen Tertiary Unorganised Private
Postmen Tertiary Organised Public
Workers (Casual/Factory) Secondary Unorganised Private (Usually private factories)
Clerk (General) Tertiary Organised Public or Private (Depends on employer)
