Solution

  1. The Moon completes one rotation about its axis and one revolution around the Earth in approximately 27 days.
  2. Since the period of one rotation and one revolution of the Moon are almost the same, only one face (near side) of the Moon is visible from the Earth.
  3. A full moon can be seen once during a month.
  4. The full moon position is called “Poornima” in Hindi.
  5. The new moon position is called “Amavasya” in Hindi.
  6. The Moon rotates and revolves around the Earth in a counter-clockwise direction (as viewed from above the North Pole); this is the same direction as the Earth’s rotation.
