Solution
Wrestling uses scoring terms to describe how a competitor gains control:
- Takedown: Taking an opponent from a standing position to the mat earns a point; the score may be higher if the opponent is brought onto the back.
- Exposure: Turning an opponent’s shoulders towards the mat so the back passes the required angle scores points. Holding the opponent in a danger position for five seconds earns an extra point.
- Reversal: A wrestler who moves from the bottom position to the top and gains control scores one point.
- Escape: A wrestler who gets out from underneath, reaches their feet and faces the opponent scores one point.
- Points are awarded by the officials according to the competition rules, and the bout may end early when the required technical point lead is reached.
