Solution

Given:

Total interest (I) = 10250 rupees

Rate of interest (R) = 10%

Time (T) = `2 1/2` yrs = `5/2`

Principal (P) = ?

Formula:

Interest = `("P" xx "R" xx "T")/100`

Solution:

10250 = `("P" xx 10 xx 5/2)/100`

10250 = `("P" xx 10 xx 5)/(100 xx 2)`

P = `(10250 xx 100 xx 2)/(10 xx 5)`

P = `10250 xx 2 xx 2`

P = 10250 × 4

P = 41000

∴ Lataben borrowed ₹41000 from the bank.
