In the given figure, RQ is a tangent to the circle with centre O. If SQ = 6 cm and QR = 4 cm, then OR is equal to 5 cm.

SQ is a diameter so radius `OQ = (SQ)/2 = 3  cm`. 

RQ is tangent, so OQ ⟂ RQ.

In right triangle OQR,

OR2 = OQ2 + QR2 

= 32 + 42

= 9 + 16

= 25

Hence OR = 5 cm.
