Given equation is
3x2 - 2x - 1 = 0; x = 1
Put x = 1 in the L.H.S.
L.H.S. = 3(1)2 - 2 x 1 - 1
= 3 - 3
= 0
= R.H.S.
Hence, x = 1 is a solution of the given equation.
