Explanation:

Since DE || BC, by the Basic Proportionality Theorem we have `(AD)/(AB) = (AE)/(AC)`. 

Thus, `AE = AC xx ((AD)/(AB))` 

= `6.4 xx ((4.5)/(7.2))`

= 6.4 × 0.625

= 4.0 cm
