Solution
If I could visit one Maratha fort, I would choose Raigad Fort. It was the capital of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s empire and is situated on a high hill in Maharashtra. The fort is surrounded by deep valleys, which made it difficult for enemies to attack. Shivaji Maharaj was crowned king here in 1674, making Raigad a very important place in Maratha history.
The fort has strong stone walls, large entrance gates, secret paths, and important places such as the Queen’s Palace, Shivaji Maharaj’s throne, and the market area. There are around 1,737 steps to reach the top, or visitors can use the ropeway. From the top, we can enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. Raigad Fort is special because it was the centre of the Maratha Empire and a place from where Shivaji Maharaj ruled with courage and justice. Visiting this fort would help me understand our history and learn more about his great leadership.
