Solution

If the centre of a circle is (3, 5) and end points of a diameter are (4, 7) and (2, y), then the value of y is 3.

Explanation:

Since, centre is the mid-point of end points of the diameter.

∴ Centre = `((4 + 2)/2, (7 + y)/2)`

⇒ `(3, 5) = (3, (7 + y)/2)`

On comparing both sides, we get

`5 = (7 + y)/2`

⇒ 7 + y = 10

⇒ y = 3
