m : n = 3 : 8 ⇒ `"m"/"n" = 3/8`
(3m+2n) : (5m+n) = `(3"m" + 2"n")/(5"m" + "n")`
= `(3 xx "m"/"n" + 2)/(5 xx "m"/"n" + 1)`
= `(3 xx 3/8 + 2)/(5 xx 3/8 + 1)`
= `(9/8 + 2)/(15/8 + 1)`
= `25/23` = 25 : 23
