Solution
Given, a : b = 5 : 3
`=> a/b = 5/3`
`(5a - 3b)/(5a + 3b) = (5(a/b) - 3)/(5(a/b) + 3)` ...(Dividing each term by b)
= `(5(5/3) - 3)/(5(5/3) + 3)`
= `(25/3 - 3)/(25/3 + 3)`
= `(25 - 9)/(25 + 9)`
= `16/34`
= `8/17`
