Solution

Poetic device Stanza No. Lines from the poem
Metaphor 1 “ ‘Hope’ is the thing with feathers-” - hope is compared to a bird.
Personification 1 “And sings the tune without the words- / And never stops-at all-” - hope is given the bird-like actions of singing and persisting.
Imagery 2 “That could abash the little Bird / That kept so many warm-” - creates a picture of a small bird giving warmth and comfort.
Alliteration 2 and 3 “sore … storm” (stanza 2); “strangest Sea” (stanza 3) - repeats the initial s sound.
Rhyme 1–3 “soul / all” (stanza 1), “heard / bird” and “storm / warm” (stanza 2), “Sea / Me” (stanza 3) - gives the poem a musical pattern.
