Short Answer

Solution
A shoot tip or nodal segment containing meristematic tissue is sterilised and cultured on a nutrient medium, commonly containing cytokinin such as BAP. Cytokinin promotes axillary bud growth and multiple shoots. The shoots are transferred to an auxin-containing medium for rooting, then hardened and planted in soil or the field.
