Solution

A hollow spherical piece of glass can be made into a concave mirror by (i) silvering or polishing its inner (concave) surface so that it becomes reflective, or (ii) coating its outer surface with a thin layer of silver and covering it with red paint to protect the silver coating.

A hollow spherical piece of glass can be made into a convex mirror by (i) silvering or polishing its outer (convex) surface to make it reflective, or (ii) coating its inner surface with a thin layer of silver and applying red paint over it to protect the silver coating.
