Last week, our school organised a picnic on the banks of the River Sabarmati. Everyone was enjoying themselves. Teachers also interacted with students. Families also came to appreciate the beautiful splendour.
We were singing and dancing. We suddenly heard a loud disturbance. We discovered that a child carrying two people had overturned. Passengers were shouting for help. They both appeared to be unable to swim. A 22 year old boy jumped into the river unexpectedly. He swam to the upturned boat with superb strokes. He successfully restored the boat to its original place. He quickly led the two people to the boat by swimming to them individually.
Also, he helped them get back on board the boat. He did not board the boat himself because it was a small vessel. He swam back close to the boat after giving them the signal to row it to the shore.
Everyone on the bank clapped the boy’s spirit, and the travellers expressed gratitude for his quick help. Our young people undoubtedly need to be inspired by the boy and perform altruistic deeds.
