Solution
- The Amazon River flows through the northern part of Brazil, and nearly two-thirds of the country is covered by its basin.
- The Equator also passes through this region, so the climate remains hot and rainfall occurs throughout the year. This region receives convectional rainfall.
- These environmental conditions are suitable for the growth of dense forests and trees.
- However, the hot climate, heavy rainfall, and thick forests create obstacles to the development of human settlements. Therefore, the interior region of the Amazon Basin is sparsely populated.
Thus, because of the Amazon River, heavy rainfall, abundant sunlight, hot and humid climate, and very little human interference due to fewer settlements, the northern part of Brazil is covered with dense forests.
