Solution
- Rajasthan is largely covered by the Thar Desert, which is known for its arid climate. The annual rainfall in many areas of Rajasthan is indeed less than 25 cm.
- The western and northwestern parts of Rajasthan, especially areas like Jaisalmer, Barmer, and Jodhpur, receive very little rainfall due to their desert location and the rain-shadow effect caused by the Aravalli Hills. These regions are dry, with annual rainfall often under 25 cm.
- However, areas in southeastern Rajasthan, like Udaipur and Mount Abu, receive higher rainfall due to their proximity to the Aravalli Range, which intercepts the monsoon winds. These areas can receive more than 50 cm of rainfall annually.
