Solution
The word ‘meridian’ means related to noon or 12 p.m. As every longitude receives the noontime or 12 p.m. at different intervals where the sun’s rays are exactly vertical over a particular longitude. On a particular longitude, the noon-time is the same from north to south; so a longitude is also called a Meridians of longitude.
