Solution
Many volcanoes are found along plate boundaries because the movement of tectonic plates creates zones of weakness in the Earth’s crust. At convergent boundaries, one plate is forced beneath another (subduction), causing melting of rock to form magma. At divergent boundaries, plates move apart, allowing magma to rise and fill the gap. This magma reaches the surface through volcanic eruptions, making plate boundaries common sites for volcanic activity.
