  1. Calculate the current I.
  2. Calculate the terminal voltage.

Solution

a. External resistance = `[(30xx30)/(30+30)]`

= 15 Ω

Internal resistance = 2 Ω

By Ohm's law,

E = I(R + r)

3.4 = I(15 + 2)

I = `3.4/17`

= 0.2 A

b. For Terminal voltage,

V = E - ir

= 3.4 - (2 × 0.2)

= 3V
