f(x) = 3x3 + 4x2 − 7, g(x) = x + 2

Step 1: Convert g(x) to (x – a) form

x + 2 = 0

x = −2

Step 2: Calculate the remainder

f(–2) = 3(–2)3 + 4(–2)2 − 7

= 3(–8) + 4(4) − 7

= –24 + 16 − 7

= –15
