Solution

Given:

  • AD = 15
  • AP = 9 cm, where P is a point on BC
  • AP ⊥ BC
  • Q and R are on CD produced, forming parallelogram ABQR

In parallelogram ABCD:

Base AB = 12

Height AP = 9 cm (perpendicular from A to BC)

Area of ABCD = AB × AP

= 12 × 9

= 108 cm2

Since ABQR lies on the same base AB and between the same parallels as ABCD:

Area of ABQR = Area of ABCD = 108 cm2
