Solution

Let Ravi’s present age be x years.

Fifteen years later, Ravi’s age = 4 × His present age

x + 15 = 4x

On transposing x to R.H.S, we obtain

15 = 4x − x

15 = 3x

On dividing both sides by 3, we obtain

`15/3 = (3x)/3`

5 = x

Hence, Ravi’s present age = 5 years
