Solution

Given expression: x3 – 5x2 + 6x

Step-wise calculation:

1. Factor out the common factor x:

x3 – 5x2 + 6x = x(x2 – 5x + 6)

2. Factorise the quadratic x2 – 5x + 6 by finding two numbers whose product is (+6) and sum is (–5).

These are (–2) and (–3): x2 – 5x + 6 = (x – 2)(x – 3).
