Solution

  1. A solution is a homogeneous mixture formed when one or more substances (solutes) are uniformly dispersed in another substance (solvent).
  2. The particles in a solution are present at the molecular or ionic level, making the mixture uniform throughout.
  3. Solutions can exist in all three physical states. Solid, liquid, or gas, depending on the solvent.
  4. For example, saltwater is a liquid solution where salt is the solute and water is the solvent. Solutions are characterised by having a single phase and do not separate on standing.
