Solution
A “tap” (or tap shot) in badminton is a very soft, controlled net stroke in which the player lightly taps the shuttle so it just clears the net and drops quickly into the opponent’s forecourt; its aim is to force the opponent forward, disturb their positioning, or win the rally if they cannot lift the shuttle. It is executed from the forecourt with a short, precise wrist/finger action, an open racket face and minimal backswing (almost a fingertip touch), and is closely related to other soft net strokes such as the net shot or push shot but with even less power and clearance over the net.
