Before the end of the term, elections held by the Election Commission are called midterm elections. The Election Commission holds midterm elections under the following circumstances:
- If the elected government loses its majority before completing its term in the Parliament.
- If the parties in the coalition government withdraw their support, resulting in the loss of a majority for the government.
- If no alternative government is possible.
