Given: `log_3  1/3`

Step-wise calculation: 

Let `x = log_3 (1/3)`

1. Convert to exponential:

`3^x = 1/3`

2. Write `1/3` as a power of 3:

`1/3 = 3^(-1)`

3. So `3^x = 3^(-1)`

⇒ x = –1

`log_3 (1/3) = -1`, since `3^(-1) = 1/3`
