Question
Evaluate:
`1/(-15) + 5/(-12)`
Advertisements
Solution
`1/(-15) + (5/(-12))`
= `(-1)/15 - 5/12`
| 2 | 15, 12 |
| 2 | 15, 6 |
| 3 | 15, 3 |
| 5 | 5, 1 |
| 1, 1 |
LCM of 15 and 12 = 2 x 2 x 3 x 5 = 60
`(-1xx4)/(15xx4) - (5xx5)/(12xx5)` ...(∵ LCM of 15 and 12 = 60)
= `(-4-25)/60`
`= (-29)/60`
