Solution

Given R.F. = 1 : 2000

1 cm on the map = 2000 cm on the ground = 20 meters

Let’s take 10 cm as the length of the scale on paper.

It will represent 10 × 20 = 200 meters on the ground.

Drawing the scale:

Draw a 10 cm straight line.

Divide it into 4 primary divisions of 2.5 cm each.

Each primary division represents 200 ÷ 4 = 50 meters.

Divide the first primary division (leftmost) into 5 secondary divisions, each showing 50 ÷ 5 = 10 meters.

Labeling:

Start with 0 just to the right of the secondary divisions.

Label to the right as: 0, 50, 100, 150, 200.

Label the left secondary divisions as: 10, 20, 30, 40, 50.
