Solution

The power of a convex lens depends on its focal length:

P = `1/f`

where P = power of lens and f = focal length (in metres).

A thick convex lens has more curvature, so it bends light rays more strongly and has a smaller focal length. Since power is inversely proportional to focal length, the thick lens has greater power.

Therefore, a thick convex lens has more power than a thin convex lens.
