Solution

There are many kingly traits that Malcolm has that Macbeth doesn’t have, which make Malcolm a better leader. Unfortunately, Macbeth is ambitious and uses violence and lies to get and keep power. Malcolm, on the other hand, is honest, smart, and cares deeply about his country. In the fourth act, Malcolm first tests Macduff’s loyalty by feigning flaws to learn what Macduff really thinks. This shows how wise Malcolm is and how well he knows the risks of courtly lying, which Macbeth never learns. He is careful, not like Macbeth, who acts without thinking. Also, Malcolm’s chat with Macduff shows how much he loves Scotland. He talks about how bad it is that Macbeth is in charge and how much he wants to bring back order and justice. This sense of patriotism is very different from Macbeth’s selfish goals.

Malcolm also shows leadership and strategic thinking by planning the invasion of Scotland. He forms alliances with England, gets armed help, and thinks carefully about what the best thing to do is. Malcolm also admits his flaws and asks for help, showing that he is humble and ready to learn attitudes that Macbeth, who is becoming more cocky and alone, lacks.

Lastly, Malcolm’s speech at the end of the play, in which he outlined his plans to bring back peace and order, shows that he is dedicated to good government. They say he will punish those who hurt the state and honor those who served it. This sense of right and wrong and duty is what makes a true king, and it is very different from Macbeth’s cruel rule.
