Given values:

Point (x1, y1) = (−1, 2), Slope (m) = 4

Using the point–slope formula:

y − y1 = m(x − x1)

y − 2 = 4 [x − (−1)]

y − 2 = 4 (x + 1)

Let’s write the above equation in standard form (Ax + By + C = 0)

y − 2 = 4x + 4

0 = 4x − y + 4 + 2

∴ 4x − y + 6 = 0

Hence, the equation of a line is 4x − y + 6 = 0.
