- This technique is used when there is no defender standing in the way between the passer and his intended receiver. The ball is gripped with both hands by placing the fingertips on both sides of the ball; the thumbs should nearly meet behind the ball.
- With elbows slightly extended out from the side, hold the ball to chest level, then step towards the intended receiver preparatory to making the pass.
- As soon as, the arms are straight out in front, release the ball with a snap of the wrist. The thumbs should be pointing downward at the end of the move.
