Solution 1
When the ball is in the possession of two opponents (one from each side) player's simultaneously.
Solution 2
In basketball, a held ball occurs when two opposing players simultaneously have their hands on the ball, and neither can gain sole possession without undue physical force. When this happens, the referee will stop play and signal for a "jump ball" or follow the rules specific to the league or level of play (like using the possession arrow in high school and college basketball).
A jump ball is when the referee tosses the ball into the air between the two players who were holding the ball, and they jump to tip it to a teammate to regain possession. If the game is using the possession arrow system, the ball is awarded to the team that the arrow indicates, and then the arrow is switched to the other team for the next held ball situation.
