Solution

Metastasis is the process by which cancerous cells spread from one part of the body to other parts, forming new tumors. Specifically, cancer cells penetrate blood and lymph vessels and spread to distant organs such as the lungs, liver, bones, and lymph glands, where they establish new cancer colonies. The new cancerous growths at these distant sites are called metastases.
