When a large number of monosaccharide units are joined together by a glycosidic linkage then polysaccharides are formed with the elimination of water molecules. Polysaccharides are also regarded as condensation polymers in which monomers are joined together by glycosidic linkages. Example of polysaccharides is cellulose, starch and glycogen.
