Solution

Given: Construct a regular hexagon of side 3 cm.

Steps of construction using the method of interior angles:

  1. Draw a line segment AB = 3 cm.
  2. At point A, construct an angle of 120° and mark point F on this ray such that AF = 3 cm.
  3. At point B, construct an angle of 120° and mark point C on this ray such that BC = 3 cm.
  4. At point C, construct an angle of 120° and mark point D on this ray such that CD = 3 cm.
  5. At point F, construct an angle of 120° and mark point E on this ray such that FE = 3 cm.
  6. Join points E and D.

Now join AB, BC, CD, DE, EF and FA.

ABCDEF is the required regular hexagon of side 3 cm with each interior angle measuring 120°.
