Solution

Given: AB = 7 cm, BC = CD = 5 cm and ∠ABC = ∠BCD = 90°

To construct the quadrilateral steps are:

  • Draw a line segment BC = 5 cm  [Establishing the base of the quadrilateral]
  • Construct a perpendicular ray at B to make ∠ABC = 90°  [Setting the first given angle]
  • Cut off a segment AB = 7 cm on the ray from B  [Locating vertex A]
  • Construct a perpendicular ray at C to make ∠BCD = 90°  [Setting the second given angle]
  • Cut off a segment CD = 5 cm on the ray from C  [Locating vertex D]
  • Draw a line segment joining points A and D  [Closing the figure to form quadrilateral ABCD]
