A New Year’s Light

The morning lifts its golden face,
And scatters shadows from the land;
A thousand dreams awake apace,
As hope takes root in heart and hand.
Though yesterday has left its scar,
New paths unfold beneath the sun;
We meet the unknown, brave and sure,
And trust the work we have begun.
Each small kind act can light the way;
A brighter world begins today.
