Solution

Equivalent resistance of A and D in series

\[ \mathrm{R}_{1}=(7+5)=12 \Omega \]

∴ Equivalent resistance of B and C in series

\[ \mathrm{R}_{2}=(16+8)=24 \Omega \]

Equivalent resistance of \(\mathrm{R}_{1}\) and \(\mathrm{R}_{2}\) in parallel \[ \frac{1}{\mathrm{R}_{p}} = \frac{1}{12} + \frac{1}{24} \]

\[ \Rightarrow \frac{1}{R_{p}}=\frac{3}{24} \quad \text { or } \quad R_{p}=\frac{24}{3}={8 . 0} \Omega\]
