For instance, monsoon winds change direction with the seasons,bringing rain in summer and dryness in winter. Similarly, land and sea breezes are daily periodic winds caused by the alternate heating and cooling of land and sea surfaces.
- Local winds: Local winds are limited to specific areas and occur for short durations. They arise from local temperature and pressure differences. For example, the Loo is a hot, dry wind that blows in parts of northern India during summer afternoons. Other examples include Chinook and Mistral, which influence the climate of the regions where they occur.
