Areas of two similar triangles are 36 cm and 100 cm If the length of a side of the larger triangle is 20 cm, then the length of the corresponding sides of the smaller triangle is 12 cm.

Explanation:

For similar triangles, ratio of areas = (ratio of corresponding sides)2.

So side ratio = `sqrt(36/100)`

= `6/10`

= `3/5` 

The smaller side = `20 × 3/5` 

= 12 cm
